REFLECT | 'What is going on in our life right now?’

Discuss

  • Did you manage to implement the ONE THING you said you were going to do differently this week? Why/Why not? (Not supposed to be condemning, just an acknowledgment)

  • How did your week go? Which of the statements of being in Christ, impacted/stood out for you?

ENGAGE | ‘How do we engage with what God is saying to us?

  • What was your reflection on the text and Pritam’s talk this week?

11 The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, “What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

12 “Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.”

  • Name some of the sacrifices you have had to make in your life? Which ones have cost you the most?

  • What does Jesus mean when he says

Matthew 16:24-26 (NIV) 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

13 Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before. 14 Then they cried out to the Lord, “Please, Lord, do not let us die for taking this man’s life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, Lord, have done as you pleased.” 15 Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. 16 At this the men greatly feared the Lord, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows to him.

  • What are the similarities and differences between Jesus’ story and Jonah’s?

  • Watch the video below on Sacrifice and Atonement, how does this relate to the story?

  • What were your reflections on Pritam’s three statements?

    • You are not disqualified from God’s love by who you are

    • You are not disqualified from God’s love by what you have done

    • You are qualified through Jesus

  • How would living by these three points influence our relationship with; God, Others, and Ourselves?

  • How do these three statements influence our identity and design?

  • What are your thoughts and feelings on the point that in jonah’s disobedience, people around him still had an encounter with the ‘Lord’?

INSPIRE | - ''How do we inspire each other to do something different this week? What opportunities are in front of us, that we can choose to explore?’
